In some cases, the pathological fat accumulation associated with lipoedema can also affect the torso – particularly the (lower) abdomen, flanks, upper back, and bra-line area. Although these regions are not yet officially recognised as typical lipoedema zones in clinical guidelines, we frequently see patients presenting with clear symptoms in these areas.

Especially after surgery on the legs or arms, fat accumulation in the torso can create an imbalanced body shape, which may be both physically uncomfortable and emotionally distressing.

Treatment at LiSuMed

• Liposuction of the torso is usually performed as a separate procedure, often after leg treatment.
• We use WAL under general anaesthesia, ensuring a gentle yet effective approach for aesthetic and harmonious results.
• After surgery, a suitable compression garment—typically off-the-shelf—is worn.
• Treating the midsection can significantly improve body symmetry and help alleviate symptoms such as pressure sensations or back tension.
